Fun Baton Twirling Tricks

If you or your child is a baton twirling machine, then you should know that there are several tricks from the baton twirling book to learn. Starline Baton, leaders in baton twirling equipment, wants to explore some of those specific tricks and how they are done so that our readers can expand their horizons in the baton twirling trick universe.

Left Backhand Release Double Knuckle Pop
This is the perfect trick for your roll section. itwirl.com recommends the following steps to conquer this cool trick. You should start off with a low left backhand release, and right before the baton turns horizontally on the second revolution, put your right hand, palm downwards, in the baton’s path. The baton should still be rotating, and you should push your hand upwards, popping the baton off of your knuckles into a low aerial. As the baton continues its revolution, put your right hand in its path, and repeat the popping motion.

Lasso Staddle
This is the perfect baton twirling trick to finish off an eight-count. Hold the baton at the ball and loop horizontally counter clockwise over your head. Then, complete the same rotation below your waist with a full-hand grip with your thumbs pointing down. Continue to complete the same rotation that you started with (Over your head), and continue with the below the waist rotation, but this time, you will need to lift your leg as you rotate the baton and then left your right leg, finishing the loop with your right leg in the air. You can either jump during the straddle or separate the two leg lifts--your choice.

Double Leg Roll
This is a fun baton twirling trick! Start off by holding the baton in your right hand and left your leg as if you’re marching. Place the back of your right hand firmly under the leg, around mid-thigh, and then roll the baton over the leg, all the while making sure contact is made with your leg the whole time. As the baton crosses over your left leg and nears vertical position, switch legs so the right leg is raised in the marching position and repeat the rotation. Finish by reaching your left hand under your right thigh to catch the baton as it finishes rolling over your right leg.
